You should shop around for everything in you life. Credit cards are no exception. To help you make a more informed decision, here is a no frills review of the Citi Simplicity card.
First, a look at the fees. There is no annual fee, no late fee, and no overdraft fee. While there are no fees for these transgressions, they will appear on your credit report.
Next, the interest rate. The introductory rate is 0% for 18 months and you can transfer balances to the Simplicity card. After that, the rate jumps to somewhere in the 12.99% to 21.99% range depending on your credit. Those rates can make it tough to pay off your debts, even through a Tennesse credit counseling program.
Lastly, there is no reward program for this card.
The Simplicity card sounds like a great option until you find out that you need to have very good credit to get approved for it. For people with the targeted credit score, there are cards with lower interest rates and reward programs in place. This card seems to be a targeted at an audience that doesn’t need it.
